Getting Started
Finding a therapist can be a strange process. Not only can it require some understanding of how therapy works – as a healing process and as a professional relationship – but it can also involve sifting through a lot of jargon and clinical terms.
Meanwhile, you just know something in your life needs to change and that you need help. That’s all we need to get started. Whether you are new to therapy, have received counseling in faith-based or academic settings, or even if you have years of therapy experience, I am ready to make psychotherapy approachable and transformative for you. The next step is to schedule a complimentary consultation.

My Practice
My practice is in supporting you. This means that your goals & values are at the heart of our work together. I am prepared to assist you as you build a life filled with deeper meaning & increased fulfillment.
As a Bay Area native, I am aware of and accustomed to the challenges associated with living in this fast-paced, ever-changing climate. As a Psychologist, I meet the needs of my clients by combining innovative, science-based techniques & approaches with my own down-to-earth, playful, & deeply compassionate stance. Our work together can help build upon your existing strengths, learn new skills, & break free from unhelpful habits.
My clinical strength & focus is supporting those who are pulled between two or more value systems; those who struggle to meet the competing demands of life. This can include first & second-generation immigrants, veterans, first-responders, students who are the first in their family to attend college, & those who are touched by the social costs of upward mobility.

My path started as a peer-counselor in my high school’s health center. There, I helped people find their own solutions to problems they felt were too big to face alone. This gave me a sense of purpose and connection, which drove me to earn a doctorate in clinical psychology and dedicate my career to clinical practice. During my training, I developed a profound fascination with the brain—its intricate workings and profound impact on mental health. Simultaneously, I learned that the strength of therapy is largely based on the strength of the therapeutic relationship itself. In my practice, I integrate my understanding of how neurological processes influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors into my warm, relational approach.
-
In the first one to three appointments, I ask new patients questions about their history, why they are starting therapy, and what they hope to get out of working together. I often work with patients who are highly motivated to change, but who struggle to identify what is getting in the way. Many patients find more clarity around the issues they face early in treatment. Continued work together involves practicing indicated skills (communication, emotional regulation, etc.) inside and outside of therapy.
-
I participate in continuing education coursework as-needed for specific topics. More recently, my focus has been on sex and intimacy, as these issues continue to be salient in the lives of many of my patients.
